CORONA SONGS
I
taking over the ethereal gardens
of happiness, beauty and innocent faith.
I know no name, no shade to blame.
Once, they say, bats spread their nighty flight,
poison flew in dirty cages,
and the days grew dark with people paralysed
by impotence and fear.
I know no name, no face, no real insight,
just masks, shields, gloves,
overall protection
trying to stop the winds of chaos,
the pestilence spread from animal blood
and human juices hoovering the world
in obstructed lungs;
life asphyxiating in spiked Corona poisons.
I know no face, no word, no magic charm,
I see no way to clean the world,
this haunted place of contaminated droplets,
exhausted faces
and luminous skies of hope and solidarity
shining in the iridescent gloom
of unprecedented war.
