Gagged ~ Sanjay Mukhopadhyay

Chirping of birds was predominant,

While the dewdrops shone on the grasses,

The soft light of Sun used to enthral

the world around, with gentle warm touches.

The day was simple and as simple as it could be,

Some were going to school while some were in play,

Some opened their eyes at dawn, some were late,

Some went to work, some were drying hay.

Life was simple and full of day to day huff,

Some had grudge but most were living in gay,

There’s no fear or rush of blood in the face,

None bothered to think on their stay.

Suddenly some unknown buzz,

Gobbled up the simple hush,

Dumplings were scattered all around

With dolls and the limbs of its boss.

People ran everywhere

None looked back for their fife,

Old and young none was spared

Only the bombs that jibe.

Abysmal pain and depression reigned,

Fathomless comfort charred,

It was an invasion that seemed foreign,

Commoners bore the brunt.

It's war that killed every piece,

It’s the pride and ego that thrives,

It’s living in the refugee camps niche,

While their homes were turned to sties.

None knew what to do,

where the family has died,

None knew how the humanity sees

and keeps on roaring,  'Fight'!

How to bring back light in life,

How dark is future strife!

'End the war, give peace a chance',

should be the popular cry.
